Emily Fussner Lam grew up in Indonesia (early childhood) Indiana (elementary & middle school) and New Zealand (high school), later settling in Northern Virginia after attending Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a visual artist with a Master of Fine Arts from George Mason, working in sculpture, drawing, and photography. She has worked in graphic design and arts admin for more than 10 years, managing large fundraising sales and auctions for non-profit art organizations.
At CCV, Emily leads the music and now serves in communications as well. She has been involved in worship ministry since high school, and also worked as a graphic designer at her previous church. She wants people to be able to participate in worship, be nourished spiritually, and learn about God’s character through the songs.
Emily met her husband Byron in 2021, the year she first came to CCV as a guest worship leader. CCV became their first home church as a couple, and they are grateful for the rich liturgy and the welcoming community. Emily loves connecting with friends over good food and coffee or tea; discussing a movie, show, or book; and noticing shapes of sunlight and shadow.
