While working as a pastor at The Falls Church Anglican, Johnny Kurcina had been praying about and planning for the start of a new church in his hometown of Vienna—a vision God put on his heart years earlier. God faithfully brought together a team of capable people who were excited about starting a church, and people of all ages began to share in the vision of an externally focused, gospel driven church family for Vienna, VA.
Christ Church Vienna was launched in 2011 in an elementary school cafeteria, and a few years later we outgrew the space and moved to Madison High School’s auditorium. Since then, the church has established a presence in Vienna through collaborative mission, a church family that crosses generations and is locally proximate, and a compelling sense of our unique gospel identity as God’s people in this place.
As CCV has become more established in the community and we look toward the future, we have seen God call us to put our roots even deeper.
Permanence
We are committed to being Christ’s Church for Vienna for many years to come and we want the community to know we are here to stay.
Presence
God has called us to be incarnational: to be Christ to the world around us through our proximate, local, personal presence.
Place
Place matters: we will seek the welfare of the place God has called us—to be kingdom advocates for the town of Vienna and all in the community.
ALL-IN Campaign
At the end of 2024, CCV launched the ALL-IN Campaign: a bold commitment to love Vienna for generations to come.
ALL-IN is active through 2026 and will grow our current ministry opportunities, increase and make more permanent our local & global mission endeavors, and finally, will create a significant location fund to enable us to find a permanent home.
